Highlighting the importance of personal growth in leading others, this year’s annual Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) Student Self Leadership Conference was held face-to-face last February 17 with up 100 young Christian leaders from eleven ACSI schools nationwide in attendance.
Hosted by MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA), the one-day conference facilitated by seasoned leadership trainer Boris Joaquin who featured the interactive Blanchard Institute program where attendees engaged in a series of talks, activities, and group discussions.
From 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Joaquin zoomed in on both the three integral mindsets and skill sets needed by a self leader.
Joaquin began by prompting the youth present to be self-aware of their abilities and limitations while taking active steps to respectively maximize and minimize them. The husband-wife duo of Mr. Aris-Khan Acu and Mrs. Frances Acu then facilitated a paper plane activity.
Afterwards, the students pondered upon their SMART goals, and got acquainted with the Blanchard Institute SLII Model of leadership styles where the young leaders identified the type of leadership styles needed depending on the supportive and directive behavior.
Following this, the attendees shared their aspirations in their small groups, forming new bonds with fellow Christian student leaders.
The eleven Christian schools invited to the conference were MGC New Life Christian Academy, CCF New Life Foundation Inc., International Christian Academy, Cornerstone Christian Academy of Quezon City, Mandaue Christian School Inc., Bethel International School, JCRRC Foundational Learning Center, King Solomon Christian Schools International, JCSGO Christian Academy, Fortridge Asian School, and Maranatha Christian Academy of Mandaluyong.
