Batch Zion Gets a Taste of Work Life as Interns at Top PH Establishments

Batch Zion finally ticked the 40-hour work immersion off their to-do list last August, garnering a fun and invaluable work experience in the Philippines’ top corporate and scientific establishments.

MGC New Life Christian Academy’s Senior High School (SHS) department partnered with Primer Group of Companies, United Neon Advertising Inc., and GlobeTek Scientific Laboratories Inc. for a fun and learning-filled batch work immersion experience, while other students were allowed to complete their internship under a company of their choice.

The graduating grade 12 students underwent five days of work simulation of careers respective to their chosen strands as a curriculum requirement of the K-12 Program’s Inquiries, Investigations, and Immersion (III) subject.

From August 14 to 18, 12 Administration Business Management (ABM) students reported to the Primer Group of Companies where they were divided according to their strengths and interests in the departments of Human Resources (HR), Corporate Communications, and Marketing. Meanwhile, the remaining 12 ABM students, as well as two from the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand and one student from the General Academic Subjects (GAS) strand reported to United Neon under the HR, Finance, and Media departments.

“The work immersion we had in Primer was a great learning experience for me as I was exposed to how the corporate world works… I learned to work well with the team, which is truly essential in the workplace since we can share our ideas and produce better results,” expressed Zion ABM student Francesca Khu under Primer’s Marketing Department.

Describing her experience with United Neon’s HR Department as a “roller coaster ride,” Moira Villamanca commented, “It was both fun and tiring at the same time. Despite the challenges that I faced with the assigned tasks given to me, I’ve managed to give my 100% best. With this blessed opportunity to feel what the real world looks like, I definitely learned a lot from my superiors that would help me in my future endeavors.”

In the same week, one batch comprising 13 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) students and 2 GAS students stepped into GlobeTek Scientific and Laboratories as scientific researchers. Another batch of 13 students reported on the following week from August 22 to 25 and 29. This opportunity was especially invaluable for the students interested in the medical and scientific fields.

Aspiring doctor Phoebe Coseip from the second batch remarked, “Having our work immersion in GlobeTek with my classmates was a really helpful, informative, and fun experience. We worked in a lab and studied microorganisms and their growth. This is especially helpful since I'm interested in being a doctor, where we need to study and take care of living organisms.”

Karl Yue, who was part of the first batch of interns, also reflected, “The work immersion in GlobeTek was very fun especially in the company of my friends because we got to do different experiments outside the classroom that I never thought I’d do like DNA and protein extraction. We also learned all the concepts behind them which was interesting.”
