Batches Damascus and Olive Climb Their Way to the Top of the 19th Ichthus Intramurals

After two years of being online, New Lifers finally got “Back to the Game” for the MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) 19th Ichthus Intramural Games. The Grade 9 Damascusaurus and Grade 11 Olive Gardens were declared the overall winners, scoring 91 and 82 points, in the Junior and Senior Divisions respectively.

First-timers in the Junior Division, Grade 8 Ber-e-Yeah scored 86 points to get 2nd place while Grade 7 Nazareth Neverland attained 65 points to place third. The Senior Division saw Grade 12 Generation Zion (GenZ) ending their final season at MGCNLCA with 81 points to settle for 2nd place, while Patmos Polar Bears finished 3rd with 79 points.

The Batch Dance competition kicked off the opening day of the Intramural Games last November 7, 2022. As the first batch of Grade 12 students to join the fray, the seniors of Generation Zion reclaimed their title as Batch Dance Champions with a total score of 96%. The Grade 11 Olive Gardens emerged as the 1st Runner-up, scoring 89%. Damascusaurus also made their way to the podium, finishing 2nd Runner-up with a score of 85%.

Throughout the week-long event, batches went head-to-head in basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and chess in a race to score points for their teams. During the team sports, it was the boys’ basketball in both Junior and Senior Divisions that was the focal point of the Intramurals, but it was the girls’ basketball event that brought students and teachers together for a treat. Meanwhile, the basketball and volleyball exhibition games held on the last day, November 11, saw some teachers playing alongside the students.
