With the pandemic still persisting and the recent Philippine elections having just finished, it’s easy to feel worried in this time of uncertainty. But during the most uncertain times, God still works amidst confusion and doubt.
This was the assurance given by Reverend Stephen Tan about trusting God to come through for us in the topic “Be Still and Know I Am” for the first-ever special joint fellowship of MGCNLCA’s Coral Reef Fellowship (CRF) and Youth Gospel Center’s Student Fellowship (YGC) held last May 6, 2022, from 4-6 PM via Zoom.
In the main portion of the joint fellowship, Reverend Tan spoke about “I Am,” one of God’s many names, and reminded the attendees that God never changes. Tan added that if we recalled all the ways God had helped us before, we would be assured to know that He would do the same for us now. He also referred to the story of Moses, when the prophet was sent to the Israelites to remind them that God had saved them in the past and would still be able to do so in the present.
In the testimonies, YGC member Piper recounted a time when she had sinned and confessed after the guilt had overwhelmed her. She pointed out that our sins didn’t make God love us any less and that “there’s no sin that’s too great for God.”
Meanwhile, Gianna Bocobo, a senior officer of Whales, admitted in her testimony that she had tried and failed to find something fulfilling to focus on because she had never once thought to include God in her lifestyle. She also provided an analogy of a plant, saying that in reality, God was the root and the one responsible for the growth in her life.
Finally, the fellowship ended with a Slow Talk, Fast Talk portion, where audience members were asked to answer random questions with an explanation for the first part and the first thing that came to mind for the second. The fellowship ended with the attendance photos and prayer led by CRF president, Erin Co.
