Berea garnered the most wins in this year’s badminton tournament in the Junior’s Division with a grand total of eight wins, while Damascus and Nazareth won one and six matches each, respectively in the 19th Ichthus Intramural Games.
The badminton intramural games were hosted on Wednesday at the school’s gymnasium, with the matches beginning around 1 PM.
Wrapping up this year’s badminton intramurals with a win is batch Berea, scoring 15-10, 15-8 against Damascus in the girls' singles on Wednesday.
"I think it's fun but like they should manage the order of players better," answered Jairus Lee, a Berea badminton player, when asked for his thoughts on the ongoing badminton games. "...There [were] lots of people who signed up, but lots of people didn't actually play, and those who played just played again."
This issue was a problem for all three competing batches, as many players who signed up for the Intramurals expected that they would be able to play a match—leading to much disappointment.
“There was a misunderstanding about the implementation of the rules, but as a facilitator, we need to apologize and then continue [on with] the game,” explained Mr. Cruz, an MGCNLCA PE teacher.
When asked about her feelings after her girls badminton game, Damascus player Bellina Fontarum replied, “I’m not confident that we'll win badminton [overall], so I think it's a given that I feel a bit sad, but I don't regret it because I can see that all of us really put in effort and tried our best.”
This statement proved true for all players who participated in the 19th Ichthus Intramural Games, as everyone came together and did their best for their batch.
