Caring with a S.M.I.L.E.

“Stand firm in our calling and purpose, model by our examples, inspire through our lessons, laugh at our adversities, and empower to become leaders and disciples.” This expanded acronym sums up this year’s Outreach Teachers Training webinar entitled, “S.M.I.L.E. in the midst of a pandemic!,” held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on July 8 to 9 and 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on July 10.

The webinar’s main vision was “to care for the teachers’ and pastors’ wellbeing first so that they can work better and teach more effectively,” said Mrs. Evelyn Joy A. Cawaon, the program head and speakers administrator.

300 participants from 34 schools and churches attended the 3-day webinar and listened to 16 knowledgeable speakers who discussed relevant topics during the two plenary sessions and three workshop sessions.

Topics discussed during the plenary sessions were Laugh in the Face of Adversity by Mrs. Helen K. Villanueva and The Faith and The Greater Life by Pastor Don Cua, M.D.

Forty-four groups were sent to breakout sessions after the meetings for group discussion. Other activities included prayer time, playing of fun songs, praise and worship, icebreakers. A raffle for 2 iPads and 44 sets of ₱500.00 were held, and ₱2,000.00 were given to each participant.
