After nearly three years of remotely worshiping the Lord without feeling the incomparable essence of face-to-face worship, Coral Reef Fellowship finally held its first in-person Orcas fellowship last November 18, 2022, for Senior High School (SHS) students.
Held at the school auditorium from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, the three-hour event opened with an energizing praise and worship led by Whales and a joint interactive get-to-know icebreaker.
Second-year MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) teacher Ms. Arianne King then took the floor and shared her college experience as a Christian in her talk titled, “Walking with God Outside of MGCNL.”
As someone who similarly grew up in a Chinese Christian school, King admitted sharing the sentiment of most students in batches Olive and Zion. She warned the students against the three types of people they will meet in college – the “Pa-AirDrop” or the students who ask for answers, the “Papasok ka?” or the students who skip classes, and the “Org is Lyf/Acads is Lyf” or students whose lives are dominated by organizations or academics.
Warning the graduating students of the environment outside the “MGCNL bubble,” King taught the SHS student body several approaches for standing firm in the Lord when faced with varying people and circumstances. She advised three action points, namely apply what you have learned in MGCNL; learn how to stand up for your values; and make God the center of your life.
“We just need to surrender our lives to Him, and know that He is always in control… Let us lead the life God wants us to lead,” prompted and urged King.
The talk was followed by a brief Q&A with King and fellow primary teachers Ms. Hannah Repotente, Ms. Janaye Villanueva, who expounded on personal college experiences and approaches.
