With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, graduating students were finally able to experience face-to-face retreats.
Gathering together as a batch for the first time in two years, the Grade 10 Patmos students had their two-day in-person retreat in school last May 16 to 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
Both days started the retreat with a short welcoming speech and orientation, followed by two praise and worship songs.
On the first day, Reverend Stephen G. Tan took the stage and warned the students about the deadly allure of sin, urging them to “just don’t do it,” as he asserted. On day two, Rev. Tan shared the parable of the shrewd servant, with the message of planning for a purposed life. Breakout sessions in groups were held afterwards to discuss the shared theme messages.
Tying up day one of the retreat, batch Patmos watched a film entitled “God’s Not Dead.”
Meanwhile, day two continued with a short group Bible study about Jesus washing the feet of His disciples. Imitating this, the school held a humbling activity for the students where their respective cell group leaders washed their feet.
The retreat concluded with a laughter-filled family event and prayers for those transferring, unsure of transferring, and those staying for senior high school.
