For the month of February, the Student Government (SG) successfully brought in the theme of “Love” in the third installment of their monthly challenges event, “Love Through The Lens.” Featuring a variety of activities such as “The Affection Exhibition,” bucket lists, Discord games, raffles, and the “Love Through the Lens Photography Contest,” February 8 to 17 was one for the books!
The SG decided to hold a photography competition for February, following their second game night last December. The competition was split into two divisions: one for students and one for teachers. Junior high school teachers and photography judges Mr. Wesley Mambiar and Mr. Paul Co evaluated the photo submissions in line with the theme “Love.” Grade school teacher Ms. Maria Palamos bagged a mini portable projector as a prize for her picture, “Padayon.” Meanwhile, Grade 6 student Sophia Sy took home a disposable film camera as her prize for her photograph, “Love on Top of The World.” “The Affection Exhibition," meanwhile, had students from Grades 5 to 12 submitting a photo that showed their idea of love or affection using Google Forms.
Students also competed to be the first to complete all of the tasks on the two bucket lists given. Contestants had an option to join solo or as a group, with a maximum of five members. The first bucket list was opened to Grades 5 to 12 from February 8 to February 11. The second bucket list for Grades 7 to 12 lasted from February 14 to February 17. The group of Grade 10 students Karl Yue, Wesley Co, Enduo Wang, and Launce Ty won bucket list #1, while Katherine Lim and Raeka Gonzaga, a pair of Grade 11 students, won bucket list #2. The winners of each bucket list received a prize of 2,000 pesos.
Discord activities and challenges were also available during the event. Students were free to participate in the games found in the SG’s official discord server, “The Lounge.” In addition to the games, there were also two raffles with a prize of 500 pesos each, open to those who participated in the bucket lists, Discord activities, and the photography contests.
