“Have you ever wondered why Valentine's Day is held on February 14? Perhaps, maybe because I’m the 1 4 you?”
Flowers, puzzles, artworks, and poems–these are just a few of the things prepared by MGC New Life’s (MGCNL) Student Government (SG) for their Valentines-themed event, Enrichment Week, which took place from February 13 to 17.
The event, which was open to all high school students from Grades 7 through 12, was created by the SG to celebrate the hobbies and interests of MGCNL’s student body. The opening ceremony was hosted in the Auditorium on the first day of the event, where students from each class got to present their own unique pickup lines!
On Valentine's Day, February 14, there was a secret flower delivery service wherein students sent roses to other students anonymously or with a message. The following day, from 4:00 to 5:00 PM, there was also a Puzzle Room event, where students took the challenge either as a group or individually in order to solve different puzzles and quests to escape the room.
Amongst the key events of the SG's Enrichment Week were competitions such as Art Exhibition, Draw a Teacher, Favorite Quotation, Poem Creating, and Short Story events.
Students who participated in these contests were given the theme "Love is in the Air" and were instructed to submit their works by February 17, 6:00 PM to win a prize of ₱300. Hope Ng of Nazareth A won in both the Favorite Quotation and Poem Creating events. Senior Kate Lim took home the prize for Physical Art and Ge En Hui from Damascus won the Digital Art category. The short story winners include Jordan student Lea Zabel Manquiquis and Vaughn Khu for the Grade School and Grades 7-9 Divisions, respectively. Victoria Bella Uy from Patmos A won the Draw a Teacher competition while Nazareth A students Arwin Lim, Hope Ng, and Maribeth Tiong were the victors of the Puzzle Room event.
