MGCNL Football Team Cruises Through Blue Pitch Friendlies

The MGC New Life (MGCNL) football U-13 team went home with a perfect record and finished a football friendlies tournament with two wins and one draw last April 1. The tournament took place in Makati Blue Pitch and consisted of seven aside games all simultaneously being played throughout the tournament.

Cedric Tan, the team’s goalkeeper, shared, "I'm just glad we've been winning a lot of games…”

Teams who participated in this tournament include CCF, Raya, Rizera, LSM, and MGCNL. The MGCNL team had final scores of 6-2 against Rizera FC, 4-1 against Raya FC, and 2-2 against CCF FC.

Throughout the tournament, MGCNL showcased remarkable ball mastery and clearly put an emphasis on ball possession. Accurate passes between the backline and midfielders allowed for many seamless conversions to the offensive side.

Perhaps the most impressive part was the offensive prowess of the team. The team’s offense, led by captain Kyle So, scored a stunning total of 12 goals throughout the tournament, netting eight goals himself.

Despite emerging victorious, the team's coach, Coach Paulo, didn’t spend a long time celebrating their accomplishments. Instead, he focused on the players' shortcomings and what they could have improved on. Among these were better ball control, possession, passing, and shot-making.

With this victory, the MGCNL football team looks ready to face the upcoming season. The combination of playing simple, good football and recognition of their mistakes leaves the team confident yet humble.
