MGCNLCA bounces back!: School to finally reopen on August 8 and 15

In just a few weeks, the hallways of MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) will once again be filled with students as MGCNLCA starts classes on August 8 and 15 for Senior High School and Early Years to Junior High School, respectively.

As announced during the virtual town hall meeting held last July 19 from 8 to 9 pm, Senior High School (SHS) (Grade 11 and 12) will commence the first quarter starting this August 8 to October 28, 2022. For Early Years (pre-nursery to kindergarten) and Junior High School (JHS) (Grade 7 to 10), the first quarter will commence from August 15 to October 28, 2022.

Because of its International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, Lower and Upper Primary Years (Grade 1 to 6) will have a trimestral system, with the first trimester beginning this August 15 and ending on November 11, 2022.

To give students time to shift from more than two years of online learning to in-person classes, MGCNLCA announced during the virtual meeting that face-to-face classes for all grade levels would be conducted every Monday to Thursday with online classes every Friday. However, by the second quarter (for Early Years, JHS, and SHS) and the second trimester (for Lower and Upper Primary Years), all students will be required to attend in-person classes from Monday to Friday—following the Department of Education’s (DepEd) declaration for all private and public schools to resume five days of in-person classes by November 2, 2022, regardless of the COVID-19 alert levels.

Although full distance learning remains an available option for Early Years, and JHS’s first quarter and Lower and Upper Primary’s first trimester, Mrs. Helen Villanueva, the school principal, strongly urged all parents to have their children begin in-person classes as soon as the start of the school year.

Reassuring all parents that safety protocols would be strictly enforced, she emphasized that minimizing their children’s need to adjust to a new mode of learning frequently minimizes their academic and social difficulties.

“Your safety is our utmost priority and concern,” she affirmed during the town hall meeting.

With S.Y. 2022 to 2023 about to start, the in-depth plans, protocols, and set-up for the long-awaited incoming school year will be further explained in detail at the parents’ orientation on August 1 for Senior High School, August 8 for Early Years to Upper Primary, and August 9 for Junior High School.
