Last August 10, attendees of the Senior High School (SHS) Boot Camp 2023 got the shock of their lives when their teachers, including the school’s top officials, appeared to violate the dress code by wearing crop tops.
The said teachers surprised the Boot Camp attendees by donning a very fashionable, regular length shirt that had a picture of corn and the words "CROP TOP" printed on it. Even School Director Mrs. Helen Villanueva, School Principal Mrs. Evangeline Co, and School Chaplain Reverend Harg Timothy Ang joined the fun.
It all began when the newly-appointed Student Affairs and Welfare (SAW) Coordinator, Ms. Rhenee Sy, jokingly told her fellow teachers that she was planning to wear a “crop top” to the Boot Camp, in an attempt to troll the students who are fond of wearing the prohibited clothing. Sy had originally shown them a picture of the said “crop top,” prompting more teachers to signify their interest in wearing the shirt, including Mrs. Villanueva. According to the SAW Coordinator, the shirt that the teachers wore is “the only acceptable crop top in school”.
Numerous teachers and students expressed their amusement at this witty and "corny" turn of events.
"You know me, I'm into puns." Ms. Sy said. "Some of the Grade 12 girls, when they saw the shirt, they said 'ohh, this is for sure the idea of Ms. Sy.' "
