New Lifers fall to PCC in final game of the year; record at 1-4

The MGC New Life Christian Academy basketball team lost their final game of 2022.


The MGCNLCA Basketball team suffered a tough loss to the Philippine Cultural College (PCC) in their final game of the year in the Philippine Ching Yuen Athletic Association (PCYAA), 80-70, held at the MGCNLCA gymnasium last December 11, 2022.


The game started off closely contested, with both teams neck and neck in the first quarter. The Golden Seagulls were ahead by seven at the end of the first quarter.


The New Lifers struggled in the second quarter, allowing the Golden Seagulls to slowly pull ahead. The Golden Seagulls launched a 14-4 run at 3:50 in the game clock, ending the half with a 19-point lead.


Despite their deficit, the New Lifers fought for a comeback in the third quarter, led by Adam Uy who made a total of five triples, with three of them being consecutive.


The New Lifers managed to bring the lead down to six points, but the Golden Seagulls were able to hold on and ended the quarter up by 11 points.


In the final quarter, the Golden Seagulls didn’t hold back and went on to lead by 17 points with 4:50 left on the clock. From that point on, the New Lifers went back to work and tried to bring the lead down. They scored bucket after bucket bringing the lead down to 4 points with 44 seconds left.


However, they weren’t able to pull through, leading PCC to snag the victory.


In the end, the New Lifers were unable to complete the comeback, falling to a record of 1-4 with a final score of 80-70.


Uy led the New Lifers with 25 points. The New Lifers will look to bounce back in their next PCYAA game scheduled on January 26, 2023.
