Olive Student Andre Aw Becomes First New Lifer IBO Qualifier

With a second place finish at the Philippine Biology Olympiad (PBO) finals, New Lifer Andre Gerard Aw from Olive STEM creates history as he joins the Philippine delegation to the International Biology Olympiad (IBO) on July 3-11, 2023, at the United Arab Emirates.

Fifty-five PBO qualifying stage winners nationwide vied for the Philippine team’s four slots at the PBO finals held at the Ateneo de Manila University last April 15-16. The PBO Finals selects the top four high schoolers annually to compete internationally for the Philippines.

Aside from Aw, other members of the IBO Philippine delegation include Carlos Manuel Eusoya from Philippine Science High School Western-Visayas Campus, Ayisha Madeleine Ong, and Chiara Bernadette Z. Tan-Gatue, both from St. Jude Catholic School.

Andre Aw and Hans Tan from Olive-STEM, and Aidan Kho and Raphael Castro from Patmos C all joined the PBO qualifying stage for MGCNLCA’s PBO delegation.
