Reaching Out: New Lifers Share the Christmas Love Despite the Pandemic

Spreading God’s love and the Christmas joy to two-hundred children in two different orphanage churches, MGC New Life Christian Academy’s (MGCNLCA) outreach team, in partnership with Grade 12 students, hosted two online outreach Christmas parties last December 11, 2021, via Zoom.

Undaunted by the limitations of the COVID-19 pandemic, two two-hour long Christmas party sessions were held from 9:00 to 11:00 am and 2:00 to 4:00 pm for the children of the Institute For Foundational Learning (IFL) and the Visions of Hope (VOH), respectively, as part of the annual Christmas outreach program to share the Gospel.

Both parties began with an interactive magic show performed by JB Dela Cruz, amazing the children with his impressive magic tricks while integrating Biblical messages into the performance.

Following the show, children were grouped by their ages and were distributed to four breakout rooms, managed and hosted by MGCNLCA teachers, students, and a tech host. As part of the program, the outreach team and the Grade 12 students shared the representation and symbolism of the candy canes, explained Jesus as the reason for the Christmas season, sang songs of praise, played various prepared games, conducted a testimonial portion, and prayed for the children. Each breakout group held short picture-taking sessions, marking the end of the Christmas party.

Each child also received a free meal and a candy cane worth Php 500.00.

The teachers and students organizing the Christmas parties attended brief pre-meetings held thirty minutes before each session. The outreach team and the students listened to a short devotion, sang praise and worship hymns, and prayed for guidance and a smooth flow for the program.

The MGCNLCA body raised funds for the Christmas parties and other planned outreach events from donations and student-organized fund-raising events.
