Amidst the restrictions of an online setup, the teachers of MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGCNLCA) were once again honored and appreciated by the student body in the second virtual teachers’ day celebration last September 27, 2021. The event, which was held via Zoom from 2 to 5 PM, was spearheaded by the Student Government (SG), alongside the Coral Reef Fellowship (CRF).
Hosted by Peach Oribelle Diño and Miles Vincent Co, the program opened with a praise and worship led by Whales, followed by an icebreaker game: The Price is Right.
MGCNLCA alumna Amber Yaokasin followed with an appreciation speech, where she read her poem entitled, “Dearest Teacher, Here’s What I Learned (Through the Years…),” about the impact teachers have on the lives of their students.
The teachers were then split into ten breakout rooms to play Jeopardy, Pinoy Henyo, and Guess the "Blank," with the top scorers in each room receiving prizes.
After the games, the teachers went back to the main room, where the SG played a video showing many wishes and messages of gratitude from the students to the teachers for all their love and care for them. In the raffle that followed, lucky teachers won prizes such as ergonomic chairs, vacuum cleaners, Realme earbuds, or air fryers.
The principal Mrs. Helen Villanueva then shared a message about how much teachers can impact the lives of their students, encouraging them to use their hands and to be patient with the young lives entrusted to them.
To end, officers from the Whales and CRF performed the song “Thanks to You,” with messages and greetings from members flashing on the screen. The celebration was capped with a picture taking of everyone who attended.
Aside from the virtual celebration, the teachers also received a Padlet filled with notes of appreciation from their students, a special Spotify playlist created by the SG just for the event, and an angpao from the parents of MGCNLCA students.
