“Forgiveness is the heart of our relationship with God and with others,” said Paula Salvosa, previously known as “Amalayer”, during her speech at the Coral Reef Fellowship last November 12 from 4:15-5 PM via Zoom.
Salvosa became a victim of cyberbullying after her video berating a lady guard went viral nine years ago, making “Amalayer” a buzzword among netizens. After spiralling into depression and thoughts of self-harm, she eventually became a Christian.
Invited to speak about the topic “To Forgive or Not to Forgive,” Salvosa began by bringing up a few questions about forgiveness. She reminded the attendees of the obligation of Christians to forgive, saying, “We can, and we must forgive.” Jesus himself spoke about forgiving others and about not receiving forgiveness.
Salvosa then proceeded to talk about how we could forgive others who hurt us deeply. She said that if we felt like no one understood our pain, “Jesus had scars, too!” There are limits to human justice, and instead of seeking vengeance, we can take comfort in knowing that God will deal with everything in the end.
The speaker reinforced her point by stating that forgiveness is a command from Jesus, and that failing to forgive is a sin.
Salvosa then closed the session by emphasizing that Jesus forgave all our sins by dying on the cross; therefore, we should follow His example and forgive others as well. “We declare that there is something more important than us in this world when we extend forgiveness to others out of the love that God extended to us,” she concluded.
Salvosa is the founder of MindLove Movement, and is a resource speaker for cyberbullying and mental health awareness. In addition, she is a radio DJ, a podcast producer, a missionary, and a discipleship pastor of Unify Worship.
