“True Love Waits” Returns After a Two-Year Hiatus

“Grace is bigger, and purity is more beautiful…” emphasized couple Nate and Pauline Punzalan during the virtual True Love Waits (TLW) Event last February 22, 2022, via Zoom.

TLW is an annual event prepared by the Guidance Department, where students make a promise to God and to their parents to remain pure before marriage. It was supposed to be held for Grade 9 students in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the activity was suspended. After a two-year-long wait, Batch 19 finally got to experience the TLW campaign online alongside family and guardians.

Following the Quizizz Icebreaker and Praise and Worship, parents and students split off into their respective breakout rooms. Speaking to the parents, Pastor Jonathan Bocobo shared tips and ways for parents to guide and support their children through this new chapter in their lives. Meanwhile, motivational speakers Nate and Pauline shared their testimony with the students by highlighting the importance of waiting and reminding them that God has His perfect timing for everything. After the messages, breakout sessions and Q&As were held to dive deeper into the topics.

The highlight of this event, the purity ceremony, immediately followed. Students took the vow of purity and made a promise before God and their parents to stay pure before marriage. The students signed the certificates in front of their parents, while parents gave their letters and a small token to their children. Families prayed, bonded, and created moments and memories with each other.

To conclude this event, MGCNLCA Board Member Ken Chua gave a short message to the participants, encouraging the parents to entrust their worries to God and let their children fly.
