After a two-month hiatus, Mrs. Helen Villanueva is back in the saddle as principal of MGC New Life Christian Academy. She temporarily stepped down at the start of the year when she announced that she had been diagnosed with stage two breast cancer.
In a memo released last January 26, 2021, Mr. James Tioco, the chairman of the board, informed the school community that with the principal taking a leave of absence for medical reasons, Preschool Supervisor Mrs. Evangeline L. Co would be taking charge of the school until March 31. Assistant Preschool Supervisor Irene S. Ngo temporarily took over Co’s position at the Preschool Department.
Mrs. Villanueva underwent a surgical operation last February 6 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She began her chemo treatment last March 16 and will continue with the said treatments in the coming weeks. With the steady improvement of Villanueva, Co stepped down as the OIC last March 31.
Mrs. Villanueva resumed her role as the principal last April 5.
