A Day in the Life—Early Quarantine Edition

The sun shone as you fluttered your eyes open. It was 10:05 A.M. You immediately stood up to rush to school, thinking you were late when you realized school was suspended. "Oh right, we have a two-week break,” you thought. Due to some virus, classes were suspended nationwide. You didn’t fully understand why but you weren’t complaining. You couldn’t wait to start relaxing and not having to worry about school work for two whole weeks!

You opened your phone and proceeded to TikTok. You thought this app was tacky, but recently, everyone was talking about it, so you wanted to see why it was so popular. That was a day ago, but now you are hopelessly addicted. For some reason, you couldn’t stop dancing to the dance that was blowing up. You thought to yourself, “what song was that again?” You glanced at the time. The clock reads 10:54 A.M. Unknowingly, you had allowed yourself to get distracted for nearly an hour.

Finally, you went downstairs and decided to have breakfast. Recently, there were these food trends that you saw on everybody’s Instagrams. You did a quick search for the recipes and decided to make the famous Dalgona coffee. “It looks easy,” you said. Five minutes later and you immediately regret your words. “My hands are about to die,” you thought. Thinking it was going to be easy, you decided to use a whisk instead of using the hand mixer. Eventually, you decided to switch over to the hand mixer instead. “Finally, it’s finished,” you sighed with relief as you picked a glass and poured the coffee concoction over chilled milk. Still, it looked pretty. After taking countless pictures, you took a sip. It was sweet too.

You were enjoying the drink when, all of a sudden, you received a notification. You noticed that your friend had tagged you in a bingo template on Instagram. You suddenly felt the urge to meet with your friends. There was this app called Zoom, and it allowed you to have online video calls with anyone. You wanted to give it a try. You texted your friends and asked if they wanted to go on a Zoom meeting to catch up. They agreed, and it was set that you guys would meet at 4:00 P.M. You looked at a nearby clock. It was 12:00 P.M. at the moment. You were excited. “Can time go any faster?

Without noticing it, 3:00 P.M. came much faster than you thought. Since the Zoom meeting was in an hour, you wanted to set it up first before it started. Time eventually passed, and you finally joined the meeting. The meeting went by so fast, and before you knew it, you were saying your goodbyes. “Today was so fun,” you thought to yourself, “if only this could go on for longer than two weeks.”
