Dearest Teacher, Here's What I Learned (Through the Years...)

Dearest teacher,

I am submitting to you my learning log

From all the years spent with you

In your class, in your heart, in your warm hug

We started off in kinder,

when I was small and tiny

I knew not much about the world

But you made it seem so bright and shiny

Dearest teacher, in kinder I learned to make friends

To understand the world outside my loving parents hands

Because of you I learned to trust the world

Outside my little home

Because of you I gained the courage to explore

A world to me yet unknown

And then came grade school with all the laughter, fun, and tears

Through the ups and downs, I knew you were always near.

When I felt bad, or sad, or mad, you listened to my heart.

You held my hand and walked with me, when growing up was

hard.

Dearest teacher, in grade school, I learned that I could,

I could read, write, sing, play, make friends, and do good.

Because of you, I grew

And I grew, and I grew, and I grew.

And then came high school, turbulent and rough.

When I questioned myself, compared, asked if I was enough.

Deep thoughts, big emotions, and an overwhelming tomorrow.

Yet you stood by, lending me wisdom I could borrow.

You taught me gently to enjoy my youth, to build friendships,

and to soak in the air

You said to trust in the Lord, obey, and rest in His care.

Dearest teacher, high school was tough.

But you reassured me, loved me, and

reminded me that I was enough.

Thank you teacher, for your listening ears,

for your support and encouragement

Because of you, I can now face the world

brave, strong, and confident.

And then came our final stretch, in senior high

Our last years, a bittersweet goodbye.

You worked hard to prepare us for the big world out there

Where we would have to find our way outside of your

care.

Dearest teacher, senior high taught me to do my best,

To work hard, and just entrust to God the rest.

The same way you did, teacher, in all the years you let me

grow

Until the time, to university I was ready to go.

And even as I graduated, and left the home

with you I had grown,

I have brought with me all you have taught me,

I hold in my heart the love and care you have

shown.

Dearest teacher, thank you for teaching me,

For pouring into my life your precious time,

your unconditional love, your boundless energy.

Dearest teacher, I hope that as I grow up,

you would be happy to see

The child you raised, now coming to be.

On behalf of all the students, you have taught, loved, and heard

Thank you teacher, for all I have learned.
